During MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK NEW YORK, Rubin & Chapelle presented their Spring/Summer 2015 collection called „Abstract Graphic“. Sonja Rubin & Kip Chapelle founded their label in 1997 and opened their first store in 2002. Celebrity clients include Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, Jude Law, Scarlett Johansson, Beyoncé & Oprah Winfrey. This year, the designer duo worked with designer Johanna Michel to develop prints based on German artist Edwin Michel’s long history of artwork. Silk and Cottons Scarf prints were created based on the painting and the garments were designers with the assistance of Lectra’s 3D software ‚Kaledo‘. Inspired by 80s silhouettes, Rubin & Chapelle continued their exploration of modern dress codes with a focus on pattern, shape, and print.
Kimono Shapes, Bias Dresses, Loose Dolmans, Linen Silk Combinations, Boat Neck Tunics, Scarf Dresses, Floor Length Cardigans and Padded Shoulders were dress details that came in colors such as White, Orange, Pink, Miami Pale Blue, Cream, Neon Orange, Copper & Gold. Fabrics included Printed Silk and Cotton, Cotton Shirting, athletic mesh, Silk Gazar, Linen, Pleated Organza, Mosaic Prints and Fringed Edges. Creased Trousers, Basketball Shorts and Cullotes were paired with metallic sneakers, which fit the overall natural make-up, with the straight hair, perfectly.
